Soap Maintenance

How long has a bar of soap lasted you? If you're using a bar of Purely Patricia soap once a day in the shower, it should be lasting you at least 3 weeks! If my soap is not lasting you at least three weeks, here are some tips on how how to preserve your soap for a little bit longer:

1) Place the soap in an area where water won't hit it when the shower head is on so that the soap is able to dry between uses.

2) The built in soap holders in showers are terrible for soap because it's typically located in an area where the soap will get wet, and the holders usually have poor drainage.  You do not want your soap to be sitting in a pool of water!

3) Do not place your soap on a flat surface because the side of soap that is on the flat surface will never dry and become mushy. You want to maximize the air flow around your bar of soap.

Here are some nifty devices you can use to help preserve your soap:

1) Shower Caddy

A shower caddy is great for extra storage, but depending on your height, and the height of the shower head, water may splash onto your soap - if so, you unfortunately need to move your soap, but if not, CONGRATS you can keep your soap there.

A soap saver is not exactly the most visually appealing product, but it does the trick! The little nubs allow excellent air circulation around the soap for quick drying and soap preservation.

Soap sacks are these little crocheted bags that you put your soap in that act like loofahs. The soap sacks add even more lathering power to your soap and once you're done you just hang them to dry. Bonus: soap sacks are also great for those teeny tiny soap slivers you have building up that are too difficult to use because they're too small and slippery to hold. Bonus #2: There are zillions of tutorials out there on the internet on how to make your own soap sack! I will soon embark on this crochet journey.

I hope you find these tips and tricks helpful! Do you have any I have missed? Please leave a comment!

Sincerely,

Patricia
